I am not a Singaporean but I noticed that Malacca has always been a first choice for many Singaporeans to spend their time during a school holidays. So what I’m going to share with you next is my own experienced about what you can do and what is the best place for you to go in Malacca.
Do you know what is the famous “nickname” for Malacca?
Yup… we called it Malacca Historical City or “Melaka Bandaraya Bersejarah”. It because the Portuguese colonised Melaka from 1511 to 1641. The best part is Malacca has all it takes. Even though Malacca city is only a small town, but everything is there. From hotel accommodation untill transportation facilities, you don’t need to be worried because wherever you want to go, there a taxi that can bring you to your destination. For an easy booking, just check your available room at Hotelscombined.com.

Actually, if you want to look for a hotel in Malacca, I suggest you to find the hotel that’s located near to Bandar Hilir like Equatorial Hotel, Mahkota Hotel and Seri Costa Hotel Malacca. Yup, Bandar Hilir is the hot area and the perfect area for street traveling. There’s many historical place that you can visit in this area and the first thing they did was build a fort overlooking the river, calling it St. Paul’s Hill - A’Famosa. From there you can take a walk at The Stadthuys, the red building.

Now what is The Stadthuys actually?
Well this red building, which has given Melaka the name ‘The Red City’, contains museums and was the colonial Dutch governor’s residence. The Stadthuys is a fine example of Dutch architecture of that period. It is believed to be the oldest Dutch building in the East. Opsss, there’s one secret for you to know that is A’Famosa and The Stadthyus are not far. You can just take a walk to go from one of this place to the another one.
Malacca also is the great place for you to know how the real feel of riding a trishaw “experience”. Stadthuys is where you’ll find several highly ornamented trishaws ridden by friendly old men. For a little tip, this makes a great photo opportunity. You even can charter the trishaw and once you get your favorite trishaw, don’t ever forget to take a shot or a picture for both of yourself because that will be your sweet moment ever in your life. Not only that, I was told that this 2008 actually is the best year for you to go to Malacca because the state goverment just launched their first “Eye On Malacca”.
How to get there “Eye On Malacca”?
Simple, you can ask the old men (the trishaw owner) to bring you because the Eye On Malacca is situated near the Bandar Hilir.
As for me, I always love to go to their Mini Malaysia. This is the only cultural park in Malaysia. It’s located a few kilometres outside of Melaka, near the town of Ayer Keroh. If you don’t know what is the best hotel for you stay, then just calm down because Mini Malaysia will have their own resort within few months! The only thing that you should know is this park lies just after the turn-off from the main North-South highway to Melaka. So if you came from the Exit at the Ayer Keroh interchange from the North-South Expressway, then you just need 1 minute more to this great park.
But if you came from the airport, I will suggest you to make your booking at HotelsCombined.com first. After that, you need to take a taxi to the nearest hotel (about 15 minutes) or you just can go to this park (15 minutes) directly from the airport. You don’t even have to worry about the traffic jam because the taxi driver will use the “rubber estate” tarmac road. That’s the easiest way to go to the park.
So for the Singaporeans, I’m sure you have an idea on how to spend your holidays at Malacca . Please send me some of your photos allright!
